The Danville Transportation Enhancement Project is a partnership among the Vermont Agency of Transportation [VTrans], the Vermont Arts Council and the Town of Danville, Vermont, in collaboration with landscape architect David Raphael and artist Andea Wasserman, to integrate artistic enhancements into the reconstruction of a portion of U.S. Highway Route 2 through the village center and the Danville Green with planned completion in 2007.
The Goals and values and priorities of the village were expressed using a collaborative process utilizing the Vermont tradition of public meetings, civil discourse and representative democracy. The artist and engineers produced a process of meeting the technical standards with a context-sensitive and respectful process of dialogue, in which they envisioned a creative approach to problem solving and an openness to new solutions.
This plan will include upgrading their transportation infrastructure and revitalizing the town's integrity and enhancing the safety and aesthetic of the green and village. In this plan Andrea Wasserman has encourage discussion to make this work a remarkable collective process in which each voice was important and continually advocated aesthetic enhancements to make Danville more meaningful.
